Sol de America celebrated again in the Clausura tournament, after 7 rounds and in the debut of coach Pablo Escobar on the bench, after coming back away from home against San Lorenzo in the eighth round. Ignacio Colombini, from the penalty spot, and Federico Jourdan reversed Derlis Mereles' initial goal.
THE MATCH.
The match at the University City started with a dynamic pace and with Sol de America being slightly more incisive in search of a goal. However, it was the home team who struck first through Derlis Mereles, who capitalized on an excellent through pass from Javier Toledo to score strongly past Victor Centurion and celebrate around the 15th minute mark.
Danzarin doubled their efforts after the opening goal, but the lack of effectiveness became evident. It wasn't until the 36th minute that the visiting team managed to even the score thanks to a penalty kick, awarded by referee Gabriel Benitez for a hold by Angel Benitez, which Ignacio Colombini capitalized on.
In the second half, both teams gave away many concessions in their attempts to unbalance the game at Gunther Vogel.
Rayadito, with a header off the post by Martin Sanchez, had generated the clearest opportunity. However, in the 84th minute, San Lorenzo goalkeeper Wilson Quiñonez failed to fully deflect Chavez's shot and Federico Jourdan pushed it in to turn the score around.
The final minutes were intense, with San Lorenzo pouring forward in attack, but they were unable to equalize due to the goalkeeper Victor Centurion's lifesaving interventions.
