Matías Almeyda
The coach of San Jose Earthquakes, where the Peruvian Marcos López plays, has been suspended for two additional matches and fined as a result of his unsportsmanlike behavior during the match that his team played on August 21 against Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC), which resulted in his expulsion.
The suspension automatically included missing one match, which he already served by not being able to be on the bench during the league match against Vancouver Whitecaps on August 24.
The other two matches that he will miss are the ones that Earthquakes will play against Orlando City SC this Saturday, and the one on September 11 against Real Salt Lake.
Matías Almeyda, 45 years old, has also been fined an undisclosed amount by the Commissioner of Major League Soccer (MLS), Don Garber.
With 41 points, the Earthquakes currently occupy the sixth position in the Western Conference standings, which qualifies them for the MLS playoffs.
