The match between Universitario and Melgar for the fifth round of the Torneo Clausura of the Liga 1 could be played behind closed doors. The crema club had announced the sale of tickets for the match at the Monumental Stadium this Tuesday, but RPP Noticias was able to learn that, on the recommendation of the Ministry of the Interior, the match could be played without an audience.
"It would be played without an audience! On the recommendation of the National Police, the clash between Universitario vs. Melgar would be played behind closed doors. The match is scheduled for this Saturday at 8:00 p.m. at the Monumental," our reporter informed for Fútbol Como Cancha.
The crema club has appealed to the resolution of the Ministry of the Interior so that the match can be played with an audience. The state entity may change the decision in the next few hours to allow the match to be played with open doors, as it would be the second consecutive time that the 'U' plays without an audience.
Universitario had to play behind closed doors against San Martín on matchday 3 of the Clausura, on August 16. The crema club had put tickets on sale, but due to problems between the outgoing administration and the new one, the match against the 'Santos' had to be played without spectators.
The 'U' will try to put behind the defeat they suffered against Carlos Manucci, where they lost with a goal in the 90+4 minute at the Mansiche Stadium. The crema team will face Melgar this Saturday, August 31 at 8:00 p.m. at the Monumental Stadium, where there are hopes that there will be guarantees for the fans to attend.
