Sporting Cristal: Osama Vinladen, his current situation, the 'celestial' club tried to sign him and he is now a father [VIDEO]

Miercoles 21 de Agosto del 2019

Osama Vinlanden has changed his mind: he will not change his name when he turns 18.

Two years ago, and in the midst of a call-up to the Peruvian U-15 National Team, Osama Vinladen Jiménez Lopez shot to fame in the blink of an eye. Not because he was trying to imitate the plays of Juan Román Riquelme, his idol, but because his name was associated with the founder of the terrorist network Al Qaeda. And just like that, in less than a day, the son of Tarapoto received over 500 friend requests on Facebook, which will surpass (after this news) 4 thousand followers.

"My life hasn't changed much. I continue training at Union Comercio and in a few months I will add to the playing time. But I also have a son now. I have more responsibilities," the 16-year-old football player tells us, while 'Doña Lucy', his mother, cares for Vanladen's heir.

"His name is André Santiago. Being a father changes your life. That's why I now train with greater dedication," adds a shy Osama, who now seems more convinced regarding his last interview with Depor at the end of 2017.

"I will no longer change my name when I turn 18. I have thought about it and there's nothing wrong with carrying this name. I prefer to focus on my future as a football player," he says.

Although an injury left him without a chance to play for the Peruvian U-17 National Team coached by Carlos Silvestri, Osama Vinladen reveals that he was tempted by Sporting Cristal a few months ago. They promised him an apartment in the capital, along with his family, and a better salary. But what happened?

"I have a contract with Union Comercio until 2020. That's why my other goal is to earn a place in the first team," he concludes.
