The great absentee. Beyond the overwhelming result that Cesar Vallejo achieved against Alianza Lima, after coming from two victories in the Clausura Tournament, many wondered what happened to Wilder Cartagena and why he didn't enter the field, especially after Santiago Silva's second goal.
In this regard, the blanquiazul coach, Pablo Bengoechea, made it clear that Cartagena's absence on the field was not due to previous discrepancies before the match, but that the entry or exit of players was a tactical matter.
"Three matches have gone by, he started in the first one; against Sporting Cristal he played minutes, but not today. He is a good professional, we have a lot of confidence in him, but we continue working and here everyone works to enter the field. I didn't think about repeating the changes, because I didn't read the match well and I made a mistake," he said in a press conference.
► With Silva's 'Hat-trick': Cesar Vallejo defeated Alianza Lima 3-1 in Mansiche.
In this regard, he took responsibility for the result against Cesar Vallejo, as they had won two consecutive matches in the Clausura Tournament. "Many things happened in the match and I think we were overcome. We didn't mark the dead balls well and I am responsible for making the wrong decisions," he affirmed.
Alianza Lima is among the top teams in the Clausura standings, after defeating Sport Boys and Sporting Cristal in the first matches. However, with this result, they dropped to fifth place, although they remain in fourth place in the overall standings.
