Surprise in the Call of Tiago Cantoro to the Peruvian U-20 National Team
One of the surprises in the latest call-up by Daniel Ahmed for the 7th micro-cycle of the Peruvian U-20 national team, following their failure in the last South American Championship, has been the inclusion of Tiago Cantoro.
Why has this caused surprise, even for the player himself? It turns out that the Universitario forward does not yet have Peruvian nationality, he is Argentinean and will have to start the procedures to be able to officially play for the Peruvian national team.
Even the Universitario forward himself expressed his surprise at his first call-up: "It's a surprise that they call me up to the Peruvian national team, especially considering I'm Argentinean. It's something nice that's happening to me this time and I hope it goes well," Cantoro said to Depor.
"Although I haven't had the opportunity to play with the first team due to the foreign players quota, I played in the Reserve Tournament. Now, I have to finalize my process of naturalization to continue my career in the best possible way," added the Universitario de Deportes player.
However, there is no problem for Tiago Cantoro to join the Peruvian U-20 national team's training sessions at the FPF complex in La Videna from this Monday onwards. Nevertheless, he must obtain his naturalization before participating in an official match or tournament.
