A new record in Peru. Swimmer Paula Tamashiro broke the national record in breaststroke, with a time of one minute, 11 seconds, and 21 hundredths, after competing in Series 1 at the Pan American Games Lima 2019.
Paula broke her own record in this style, since November of last year, when at the XLIV South American Swimming Championship 2018, she achieved a time of 1:12.63. This time, she beat Valeria Silva, who held the national record with 1:11.64.
The Peruvian also qualified for the B final in this category, finishing in eleventh place in the overall standings. This competition will take place tonight at the Videna Aquatic Center, at 9:06 p.m.
The best mark in the category was achieved by American Anne Lazor, with a time of one minute, six seconds, and 79 hundredths. Followed by Argentine Julia Sebastian and American Molly Hannis. The top eight in the overall standings qualified for the A final, where they will compete for the gold medal.
