Tremendous afternoon for Peruvian surfing. And it is that Lucca Mesinas added one more gold medal in the Pan American Games Lima 2019 after defeating Argentine Leandro Usuna in the shortboard modality.
The final heat was very contested. The national surfer scored a total of 14 points -7.50 in his first wave and 6.50 in his second- while his rival scored 13.77 (7.07 and 6.70). Mesinas reached this stage without falling into the repechage.

And how was Lucca's journey to win the Pan American gold? Well, first he defeated Uruguayan Lucas Madrid, then Leandro Usuna - who reached the final through the repechage - then Costa Rican Noe Mar McGonagle and finally Salvadoran Bryan Perez.
In addition to Lucca, Daniella Rosas and 'Piccolo' also crowned themselves in shortboard and longboard, respectively. While three surfers won silver: Vania Torres, Tamil Martino, and María Fernanda Reyes.
