Peruvian Nicolás Pacheco won the bronze medal in the skeet (trap shooting) event at the 2019 Pan American Games. With this, not only did he give Peru its 14th medal, but he also secured his spot in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
Nicolás Pacheco finished third in an exciting final at the Las Palmas Shooting Range. In the final round, the Peruvian faced Guatemalan Juan Schaeffer, Chilean Héctor Flores, Canadian Trysten Curran-Routledge, and Americans Christian Elliott and Phillip Jungman.
Nicolás Pacheco, who had finished fourth in Toronto 2015, scored 40 points and joined Schaeffer (48) and Elliott (50) on the podium; gold and silver respectively. And while shooting awards two spots in each event, since American Elliott already had his ticket secured -after winning the World Cup in South Korea- Peruvian Nicolás Pacheco secured his ticket to Tokyo 2020 alongside Schaeffer.
