Peruvian Athlete Wins Gold Medal at Lima 2019 Pan American Games
While it is true that all of Peru is happy for the gold medal won by Christian Pacheco in the men's marathon at the Lima 2019 Pan American Games, the athlete from Huancayo made a tremendous revelation when he was awarded in Miraflores.
The athlete confessed that he was not 100% prepared, not because he was irresponsible, but because he did not have enough support from others to continue his preparation. "My dream is an Olympic medal but I cannot do it alone, the government and the private sector have to help us," the athlete said after the competition.
Pacheco also shared what had happened with his preparation prior to the Lima 2019 games. "I was supposed to have a three-month preparation with my coach in Huancayo, but he only accompanied me in the last month because he didn't have a contract," added the athlete.
Without a doubt, Peruvian athletes are constantly fighting for support, both from the Peruvian state and from the private sector that can cover their expenses in terms of their sports.
