The captain of the Peruvian National Team, Paolo Guerrero, expressed his gratitude for the work that Ricardo Gareca has done with each of the players, especially in preparation for a championship like the Copa America. The Inter de Porto Alegre forward confessed to being a follower of 'Tigre'.
"The 'profe' inspires confidence and calmness in us, and his talks are motivating. Additionally, he does good tactical work and we are all happy with the coaching staff. He has been a football player and knows how to lead the team. Even when he has to call our attention, he does it as it should be," said Guerrero in an interview for Fox Sports.
Furthermore, Guerrero confessed that, just like him, the players of the Peruvian National Team have become followers of Gareca because he is a very wise advisor. "We have become followers of the 'profe' with all the advice he gives us in individual talks with him. We closely follow what the 'profe' wants, and I think that's where the group's success lies," he added.
Paolo Guerrero has been one of the top scorers of the Copa America, with three goals, including the penalty he scored against Brazil in the final of the tournament. Additionally, he is one of the most beloved players in South America and there are strong rumors that he could play for Boca Juniors.
The players of the Peruvian National Team have returned to their clubs. However, a new call-up will be made for the upcoming friendly matches. Brazil and Uruguay have been confirmed as the opponents, with Brazil in September and Uruguay in a double date in October.
