The Peruvian youth volleyball team will arrive in the city of Leon, in the Mexican province of Guanajuato, on Wednesday night, where they will face the XX edition of the U20 Volleyball World Championship from July 12 to 21.
Peru is in Group B of the competition and will make its debut on Friday, July 12 at 12:30 against the defending champion and three-time gold medalist, China.
On Saturday, July 13, they will play at the same time against the 11th ranked team in the world in the category, Egypt. And on Sunday, July 14, they will face the number 6 in the ranking, Poland.
The world championship has the participation of 16 teams divided into 4 groups. Group A includes: Mexico, USA, Italy, and Cuba; Group C: Russia, Turkey, Argentina, and Serbia; and Group D: Japan, Brazil, Dominican Republic, and Rwanda.
The team led by Olympic medalist Natalia Málaga arrives at the World Championship after winning the bronze medal in the U20 Pan American Cup and having preparation matches against Dominican Republic and Mexico.
"For the third time, I will have the opportunity to represent my country in a World Championship, and I believe that we arrive with very good technical and physical preparation; we trust that we can achieve the proposed goals. In the team, there are 6 girls who are younger and who have won gold in the U18 Pan American Cup, although we have little time working together, we are united by the love for what we do and the commitment to represent Peru well," highlighted the Peruvian middle blocker, Flavia Montes.
Peru has so far only won a silver medal in 1985, and in the 1989 and 1993 editions, they managed to finish in fourth place.

- Middle blockers: Flavia Montes, Yomhara Rivera, Giulia Montalbetti, and Aixa Vigil.
- Setters: Yadhira Anchante and Carolina Takahashi.
- Outside hitters: Kiara Montes, Janelly Ceopa, and Ariana Arciniega.
- Opposites: Claudia Palza and Camila Pérez.
- Libero: Andrea Calderón.
