The Peruvian National Team arrived in Lima early Monday morning after their successful participation in the 2019 Copa America, where they achieved second place after losing the final to Brazil (3-1).
The 'Blanquirroja' flight left Rio de Janeiro near midnight in Peru (2:00 a.m. in Brazil) and after a journey of about 5 hours, it arrived on Peruvian soil.
From early morning, a large group of fans awaited the arrival of the national team, both inside and outside the Jorge Chavez International Airport, to express their affection for the valuable role they played in the Copa America, where they reached second place.
The fans acclaimed the players effusively and emotionally as they began to exit the airport to board the bus that would take them to the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF) Sports Complex.
Three players did not accompany the Peruvian delegation: Paolo Guerrero and Miguel Trauco, who stayed in Brazil, and Alexander Callens, who will travel from Rio to the United States to join the New York City team in the MLS.
The Peruvian National Team, thanks to their second place in the Copa America, will receive a total of 11 million dollars from CONMEBOL, of which a portion will go to the players and coaching staff as prizes.
