Brazil lifted the trophy of the 2019 Copa America after defeating Peru 3-1 at the Maracanã in Rio de Janeiro. The post-match celebrations seem to have many more hours to go and they started after receiving the medals, a ceremony in which the team led by Tite was surrounded by a character that has caused controversy.
Jair Bolsonaro, president of Brazil, came down from the stands to join in on the chants and even lift the trophy. This upset some people, and it seems to be the case with Marquinhos who decided to ignore and not greet the head of government.
The PSG footballer took advantage of Bolsonaro turning around, quickly passed by, and continued greeting those who were ahead. The president later posed with the players for a photo, while holding the trophy.
Brazil defeated Peru 3-1 on Sunday at the Maracanã in Rio de Janeiro and won their ninth Copa America, reigning again in South American football twelve years after their last triumph, in Venezuela-2007.
Everton, in the 15th minute, Gabriel Jesus (45+3), and Richarlison (90, penalty) scored the goals for the Seleção. Paolo Guerrero, with a penalty in the 43rd minute, had scored the temporary tie in a hard-fought match with 69,906 spectators, including Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, who did not hesitate to come down to the field after the match to be photographed with the cup in his hands, surrounded by the players.
