Carlos Zambrano returns to the Peruvian National Team
Carlos Zambrano has been called up to the Peruvian National Team after 3 years. In his return, particularly in the match against Uruguay last Saturday, the 'Lion' provided hierarchy in the Peruvian defense, becoming possibly one of the best players of the match.
However, during Zambrano's absence from the national team, many negative comments were made against him. This was due to his performance in the 2015 Copa America, when he was sent off in the match against Chile.
Regarding this, sports journalist Erick Osores spoke out on Fútbol en América, stating that there was a campaign against the player who now plays for FC Basel in Switzerland.
"I won't forget when they killed Zambrano and now everyone is praising him. They put him in a cage, isolated him, and launched a destruction campaign against him, and yesterday he helped us tremendously," said the sports journalist.
Peru will face Chile in the Copa America semifinals. The match is scheduled for Wednesday, July 3 at 7:30 p.m. at the Arena do Gremio stadium in Porto Alegre.
