The victory of Universitario against Sport Boys is the second win of coach Nicolás Córdova in the four games he has coached the cremas. The Chilean coach highlighted the team's effort, but emphasized that they didn't play well despite getting 3 valuable points.
After the match at the National Stadium, Nicolás Córdova gave his assessment of the game: "Happy with the result. What makes me happier is the spirit with which we played. I think the players gave their all. It was 90 minutes of high intensity", however, he criticized that: "After going 2-1 up, we got tangled, we defended more. There is a fear of not achieving victory. We have played four matches (coaching Universitario) and won two".
Furthermore, Córdova pointed out that despite the importance and relief of Universitario's victory, he considered that they didn't play as well as they did in the previous match against Sport Rosario: "I don't think we played as well as we did in Huaraz; these are three important points that, morally, for the match against Sporting Cristal on Saturday, it does us good".
On the other hand, Nicolás Córdova gave his opinion on the problem that the Universitario squad needs to solve in order to align themselves with consistency: "This is not a technical issue, nor physical, nor game or match planning, it's an emotional issue. As a coaching staff, as long as the club supports us in the process of resetting their minds, of making them feel that they are important players and that if they are in U, it's because they can play in U, surely the team will grow and these situations will be generated".
Finally, about the next opponent of Universitario, Sporting Cristal, Nicolás Córdova expressed the following about the bajopontino team and their coach, his compatriot Mario Salas: "We are not the favorites due to what the standings show, due to what Cristal has shown, due to the game that Mario has shown, a team with a lot of dynamism. We take it one game at a time and we will sit down to fully analyze what Mario has shown with Cristal".
