After the corruption scandals that link the president of the Peruvian Football Federation, Edwin Oviedo, the Advisory Committee evaluated the situation and all its members decided to step aside.

The Advisory Committee was composed of Gianfranco Catagnola, Felipe Cantuarias, Alfredo Ferrero, Paolo Sacchi, and Luis Carrera, who chose to separate from their duties in the governing body of Peruvian football due to the various evidence that would link Edwin Oviedo in a corruption network involving businessmen, judges, and prosecutors.

However, the decision to resign from the FPF would have been made once the audio was published where Edwin Oviedo is heard conversing informally with César Hinostroza, a judge involved in an alleged case of influence trafficking with the head of the FPF.

Despite the fact that many sectors, from directors of the FPF itself, rumors in the press that Juan Carlos Oblitas and Antonio García Pye demanded that Oviedo clarify his situation, to events such as the resignation of the Advisory Committee, this has not deterred Edwin Oviedo, who has stated that he will not leave the presidency of the FPF until his guilt is proven.

Oviedo's response to the resignation of the Advisory Committee

After the resignation of the Advisory Committee became public, the FPF issued a statement signed by Edwin Oviedo, where he expresses his regret for the decision taken by the members of the Committee. The letter states the following:

"I deeply appreciate the work of the Advisory Committee of the Peruvian Football Federation, whose resignation has become public today. This body has been a fundamental support for my management at the head of the institution."

"Even though their role was not binding, these professionals guided and supported the reforms undertaken and the decisions made by this management, especially in the most difficult moments. We value their recognized experience and great commitment to the development of our soccer."

"I understand, although I regret, that in the current circumstances they prefer to step aside, and I hope that when all the issues that currently generate controversy are clarified, they will rejoin this project".
