The uncertain future of Ricardo Gareca in the Peruvian national team
The days go by and the future of Ricardo Gareca in the Peruvian national team continues to be uncertain. The FPF is expecting an answer from 'Tigre' in the coming days. Meanwhile, some names have emerged to take charge of the national team for the September friendlies against Netherlands and Germany. One of them is Daniel Ahmed, current head of the Youth Technical Unit.
In an interview with El Comercio, Ahmed referred to the possibility of temporarily coaching the Peruvian national team for the European friendlies if Gareca is not available and the sports management asks him to do so.
"I am guided by projects. Today I have this youth project that involves me. The senior project should have a development and not momentary insertions. It is a matter that the Federation needs to analyze, but today my project is with the youth and I am interested in seeing it through. It would be a shame for it to be left behind. It would be fantastic if Ricardo stays. It is very difficult for national teams to come together, we have to continue working on that and aim for more," said Daniel Ahmed.
The Peruvian Football Federation expects a response from Ricardo Gareca in the first days of August. The upcoming matches for the national team will be against Netherlands (September 6) and Germany (September 9) in Europe.
