In order to clarify his situation, Edwin Oviedo, president of the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF), gave an interview to "RPP" in which he addressed several issues, one of them being the continuity of Juan Carlos Oblitas, sports director.
Edwin Oviedo revealed that he met with Juan Carlos Oblitas last Thursday. He explained that in that meeting he was informing him about the meeting he had with professor Bonillo. The president of the FPF stated that the 'Blind' detailed the progress of the conversation with Ricardo Gareca's assistant, who was recently in Lima.
But in the face of rumors of a possible resignation by Juan Carlos Oblitas from his position as Sports Director of the FPF, Oviedo denied that this is even crossing the mind of the former coach of the national team.
"At no time did he express an intention to resign. What he did recommend to me is to give interviews and I replied that we had been gathering all the information, the data from the trip to Russia and today I am fulfilling what was discussed," said Oviedo.
At another moment, the president of the FPF stated that he does not intend to resign and that he hopes that the entire team, led by Ricardo Gareca, who took the Peruvian national team to the 2018 World Cup, remains.
