The Peruvian American Football League (LPFA) announced in a press conference that the LPFA 2018 American Football Tournament will start on Sunday, August 12th and will feature the participation of 6 teams: Bulldogs, Dire Wolves, Sea Hawks, Pirates, Raptors, and Wild Dolphins.

The tournament will consist of matches between all teams, taking place on 7 Sundays, with a break after the third round. Once this round is finished, the two teams with the highest score will face each other in a final match that promises to be a great duel.

The growth of American football in Peru is increasingly significant, to the point that each team has a roster of 30 players, some of whom were already fans of the sport and others who are young people who, thanks to the training and coaching provided by local clubs, have achieved great performance.

"Although American football has been developing in Peru for over 6 years, this year will be a starting point with the aim of achieving the goals set by all the clubs that make up the league," said Juan Miguel Chumpitaz, president of LPFA.

"Such is the popularity of the sport that there is a team from Trujillo that is also part of the league, the Mustangs, but they will not participate in the competition this time. We know that once the tournament ends, the private sector will see this sport as an opportunity and conditions for its practice can be improved," added Chumpitaz.
