Duarte arrives in Liga MX after a couple of nearly perfect seasons as goalkeeper for San Martín in the Descentralizado, which earned him a call-up by Ricardo Gareca for the friendly matches of the Peruvian National Team against Croatia and Iceland in the United States.

The 24-year-old goalkeeper traveled to Mexico and signed with the team in Puebla, which seems to have found a cradle of talent in Peruvian football.

Alejandro Duarte was tempted at the beginning of the year to play for Alianza Lima, but he chose to stay in San Martín and maintain the continuity he had achieved. Today, his present proves him right.
