Uruguayan midfielder Diego Guastavino will play next season for the Colombian team Independiente Santa Fe, after a six-month period with Liverpool from his country, the club from Bogota announced today.
"We officially welcome our fifth signing. The talent of Diego Guastavino arrives in the cardinal midfield. Welcome to the First Champion!", stated Santa Fe on their social media, where they made the announcement with a photo montage showing the Uruguayan player wearing the club's jersey.
The Uruguayan midfielder joins forwards Jorge Aguirre, Carmelo Valencia, and Arley Rodriguez, as well as Venezuelan midfielder Luis Manuel Seijas, as the signings for the Bogota team for the Copa Sudamericana and the local tournaments in the second semester of this year.
Santa Fe will be the eleventh team that Diego Guastavino plays for, 33-year-old who made his debut in 2002 with the Sud America shirt in Uruguay.
He also played for Deportivo Maldonado, River Plate, and Liverpool from his country, as well as Lyn Oslo and Brann from Norway, in addition to Swiss team Lugano, Mexican team Querétaro, Peruvian team Universitario de Deportes, and Chilean team Universidad de Concepción.
In his career, Diego Guastavino has won two titles in Peru with Universitario, the Primera División tournament in 2013 and the Apertura in 2016, as well as the Copa de Chile with Universidad de Concepción in 2015.
