Obituary: Freddy Ternero
Freddy Ternero passed away this Friday, September 18, after a tough battle against liver cancer. The former Peruvian coach and football player could not overcome the disease and passed away in a local clinic after being in intensive care.
However, Freddy Ternero will always be remembered in Peruvian football for leading a Peruvian team to glory. Under his command, Cienciano from Cusco became champion of the Copa Sudamericana against River Plate in 2003 and champion of the Recopa against Boca Juniors in 2004.
This is how the Cusco team bid farewell: "Our deepest condolences to the entire family and friends of Freddy Ternero for his sensitive passing. The whole Cienciano family feels moved by this sad news and irreparable loss."
They later added: "Freddy, we will always remember you, you did many things for our beloved club, leading it to the glory of South American football. Thank you Freddy and may you rest in peace."
Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Freddy Ternero for his sensitive passing. The whole family...
