Panitalegueru will not be able to join the Peruvian National Team at the 2018 World Cup
Paolo Guerrero will not be able to join the Peruvian National Team at the 2018 World Cup in Russia (from June 14 to July 15) after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) announced on Monday that it is extending his doping suspension from 6 to 14 months. Depor explains the final ruling:
1. The CAS has decided to increase Guerrero's suspension from 6 to 14 months, starting from today, including the 6-month provisional suspension that Guerrero has already served.

2. The CAS panel confirmed that Paolo Guerrero committed an infraction, but also accepted that he did not attempt to enhance his performance by ingesting the banned substance.
3. However, the panel considered that the player had a fault or negligence, even if it was not significant, and could have taken some measures to prevent the infraction from occurring.
4. In the case of a significant fault or negligence, the sanction should be within the range of 1 to 2 years of suspension, according to applicable FIFA rules, so the CAS considered that an appropriate sanction would be for 14 months.
5. The sanction is not appealable. Paolo Guerrero will definitely not play in the 2018 World Cup in Russia, as the CAS is the final authority. The captain of the Peruvian National Team will return in January 2019.
