Orlando City loses to Atlanta United
In the MLS, Orlando City, with Yoshimar Yotun, lost to Atlanta United. The Peruvian team was surpassed in the first half of the match and could only mask the result with a 1-2 score which did not serve them much as they lost their unbeaten streak of six consecutive winning matches.
In the first half of the match, Orlando City was troubled by Atlanta United, who came out strong seeking to score the first goal. They succeeded in the 10th minute with a penalty kick by Venezuelan player Josef Martinez after one of his opponents committed a silly foul inside the penalty area. This was the first great opportunity for the rival team, which did not hesitate to score.
Yotun's team was sometimes overwhelmed by the match, while at other times they were the dominant force. However, those few moments without the ball cost them dearly as their opponent scored a second goal. This time, Greg Garza passed the ball to Ezequiel Barco, who scored with a precise shot that beat goalkeeper Joe Bendik, who was cautioned for protesting the goal.
The second half of the match was largely dominated by Orlando City. They even managed to reduce the gap with a goal by Justin Meram in the 57th minute, giving their team a chance. However, there was still plenty of time left to equalize and perhaps even win the match.
With the draw, Orlando went all out on the attack to find the possibility of equalizing. Unfortunately, they were unable to score more goals, resulting in their third loss of the season.
With this result, Atlanta United reached 25 points at the top of the standings. Their next match will be against the New York Red Bulls. Meanwhile, Orlando City remains in fourth place with 19 points. Their next opponent will be Toronto FC, playing away.
