Due to financial non-compliance, Andrea Pirlo's match in Lima will not take place. The company responsible for the event did not fulfill the agreed payments to Universitario and the match with the Italian National Team's star will not happen.
The club published a statement on their social media indicating that the match with the former Juventus footballer will not take place due to last-minute setbacks.
"The organizing company of the event 'Gala Mundial Perú: Andrea Pirlo' has informed us that the mentioned spectacle has been canceled due to unforeseen circumstances," the statement said.
Furthermore, the administration of the 'merengue' team stated that the promoter of the match was not satisfied with the north stand's inactivation, which is why they had "conspired against the realization of the match and used it as an explanation for the lack of payment agreed with the club."
Finally, Universitario disclaims any wrongdoing, as they were part of the spectacle as a participant and not as an organizer.
It's worth mentioning that Andrea Pirlo is traveling to the country and his arrival at Jorge Chávez International Airport will be at 6 p.m., followed by a press conference.
