A great day for Flamengo who achieved another victory, this time during Matchday 4 of Brasileirao after defeating Internacional 2-0. The highlight of the match was the return of Peruvian striker Paolo Guerrero after 6 months of absence.
In the first half, Flamengo was far superior to Internacional who had some dangerous chances, but the intense pressure from "mengao" made the opponents retreat and feel cornered, with serious difficulties in launching counterattacks. Despite this, the home team had a hard time scoring.
In the second half, Internacional had a few more chances that complicated Flamengo, who still couldn't find the formula to fill the opponent's net. But at 59 minutes, coach Mauricio Barbieri decides to substitute Dourado and bring in Paolo Guerrero, who received a tremendous ovation from the attendees at the Maracanã Stadium.
From then on, Flamengo had more precision. Guerrero had goal opportunities and even a free-kick that came very close to Internacional's goal. At 71 minutes, Luca Paquetá scored the 1-0 goal and at 87 minutes, after a tackle by Paolo Guerrero, Everton Ribeiro completed an individual play to seal the 2-0 victory for the home team.
The win puts Flamengo in first place with 10 points, closely followed by Palmeiras who has 8 points in the Brasileirao table.
