One of the big surprises in the pre-match between Alianza Lima and Palmeiras for the Copa Libertadores was the absence of Gabriel Leyes in the list of called-up players. The Uruguayan forward was left out for the second consecutive match and his continuity is highly questioned. However, coach Pablo Bengoechea was very clear about his situation.

"Gabriel Leyes will be available when we consider it appropriate. He has a contract with the club. After the Apertura ends, we'll see what happens. Gabriel Leyes has not scored any goals so far this season, neither in the local tournament nor in the Copa Libertadores. Last year he only celebrated three times, although a brace by him gave Alianza Lima the national title.
