Article about Cristian Benavente and the Peruvian National Team
There was a lot of talk about the relationship between Cristian Benavente and his teammates in the Peruvian National Team, but it all remained as mere speculation. The 'Chaval' made sure to clarify the matter, just as Renato Tapia had done before.
"I talk a lot with Cristian Cueva, André Carrillo, and Beto da Silva. Sometimes we comment on each other's photos. It's a sign that we are in touch and have a good relationship," the player said in an interview with "El último de la fila".

The midfielder also talked about Ricardo Gareca. "He is a coach who has achieved what no one has in 36 years. I am grateful for helping Peru qualify," he commented.
Cristian Benavente said that he would like to play in Peru, but not in the near future. "I would also like to return to Spain, to be close to my family again. But if that doesn't happen, I am happy in Belgium," he stated.
"Wearing the Peru shirt is an honor, it is very beautiful and I feel identified with this shirt, with all the people who live in Peru. The call-up (for the 2018 World Cup) will be a difficult moment for Gareca. There is one month left to do our best and earn our place, and hopefully it will happen," he concluded.
