The Junior from Barranquilla drew 2-2 with América from Cali this Sunday, thanks to a goal from central defender Jorge Arias in the 89th minute. The Cali team is on the verge of elimination in the 17th round of the Liga Águila.
In the game played at the Pascual Guerrero stadium in Cali, the barranquillero club managed to equalize the match after being down 0-2 with goals from Yimmi Chará, in the 81st minute, and from Arias at the end of the match.
Meanwhile, América had taken the lead in the scoreboard with two goals from top scorer Cristian Martínez Borja, in the 12th and 34th minutes of the first half. The 'Escarlata' squad failed to maintain the advantage in the second half against a rival that, without showing its best game, pushed and achieved the draw.
With this result, Junior remains in eighth place with 25 points, while América is in seventeenth place with 17 units, so they would have to win the four remaining matches and hope for many results to access the quarterfinals of the competition.
The next match for the Valle del Cauca team will be next Thursday against Alianza Petrolera at the Pascual Guerrero in Cali in a postponed match of the Liga Águila. Likewise, Junior will play two matches in two consecutive days at the Metropolitano in Barranquilla; the next match for the team will be in the Liga Águila against Atlético Nacional this Wednesday, and the second match for the 'Tiburones' will be one day later against Alianza Lima from Peru in the Copa Libertadores.
