Universitario de Deportes defeated by Ayacucho in the Peruvian soccer championship
When Universitario de Deportes took precautions and defended far from their area, Ayacucho surprised them with their winning formula: cross, header and goal. This time, it was Kevin Sandoval's goal, at 24 minutes of the first half.
Pedro Troglio's team paid dearly for a defensive neglect. Ayacucho was patient and attacked cautiously through the wings. And that's how Sandoval gained the position and received the ball behind Horacio Benincasa. Then, he made a header and Patrick Zubczuk couldn't do anything to prevent the first goal.
In the first few minutes, Universitario tried to create football in the midfield, but they weren't deep enough in the last meters. In fact, the team had flashes of good football, but Alberto Quintero couldn't make a difference.
Universitario played against Ayacucho, after winning by a minimal difference against Comerciantes Unidos. In this way, Pedro Troglio's team broke the jinx of not being able to get three points at home.
