Colombian Carlos Sierra is a figure of Deportivo Lara, Millonarios' opponent this Tuesday in Bogota for the Libertadores. In AS, he analyzes the blues.

Debut in Colombia

This will be his first professional match in the country. Sierra played in the lower divisions in Panama and then became champion of the first division in that country. In 2017, he moved to Deportivo Lara, which will play against the blue team on April 17 at El Campín. He was the author of the winning goal in the 1-0 victory against Independiente.

Expectations of playing in Colombia

"It is the first time I will play in a Colombian stadium at a professional level. It is exciting to play against a rival with a lot of tradition in Colombia. We are going with a lot of responsibility to try to play our game, with the utmost seriousness to try to get the point that will help us achieve our goals."

His move abroad

"I did my youth career at Unión Magdalena, but at the age of 17, I left due to disagreements and problems. Since I didn't have any other opportunities, I went to Panama where I established myself as one of the best foreign players in the league, and that opened the doors for me here in Venezuela."

His career

"I started at Atlético Veragüense in the second division of Panama, where I was the top scorer during the years I was there, scoring 39 goals. Then I moved up to the first division with Club Atlético Independiente, where I played two finals and one semifinal. I was the best foreign player in the league, and I was signed by Tauro, the reigning champion. That's how I came to Venezuela."

Arrival at Lara

"This is my second tournament. 2017 was very good for me. I became champion in Panama, came to Venezuela, and became champion again, qualifying for the Libertadores. Now I am enjoying all of this."

Deportivo Lara

"It is a dedicated team, with a coach who works a lot on the tactical aspect. We like to have the ball, but we also know the difficulties of playing in Bogotá. Our game is based on position, because we have players with very good technique, and we won't hide."

A versatile midfielder with goals

"I play more in the defensive midfield, but with a tendency to enter the opposing area. I score goals from medium and long distances, or by making combinations like the one I scored against Independiente. I look for free space and I arrive a lot."

His goal against Independiente and the three points

"It was a hard-fought match, we stood up to Independiente. When we had the ball, we caused damage and we could have scored the second goal. The continent already knows what we're capable of."

Facing Millonarios

"They have the need, they are the home team. We will remain calm, but they have all the responsibility. They have very good forwards, a great goalkeeper; they also stand out for their work on the wings and their center forward Ayron Del Valle, who is very good, I already have a good reference of him. Jhon Duque is very good, he brings a lot of football to the team."

Key players at Deportivo Lara

"Carlos Salazar, the goalkeeper, David Mendoza, the central defender, and Jesús Hernández, the striker, are our key players."

The other Colombian in the team

"It's Enrique Soto, and I think he will play against Millonarios. He's been performing well in the local tournament and making a difference in each match. We form a good duo and create a lot of offensive play for our team."
