'El Danzarín' has already overcome the rough patch it went through last month and places its hopes for victory in forward Ernesto 'Pinti' Alvarez, the top scorer of the Paraguayan Apertura tournament with six goals.
The contribution of forward Pablo Zeballos will also be important, as he scored two of the three goals scored by the Villa Elisa team in their 3-1 victory against Sportivo Luqueño on Sunday.
Independiente Medellin, led by Spanish coach Ismael Rescalvo, arrives with the notable absence of Argentine forward German Cano, injured in the last league game and unable to contribute his goals in the Sudamericana match. Midfielder Daniel Catano and defender Jorge Segura also remained in Colombia due to injury.
With these absences, the Independiente Medellin expedition consists of 18 players for their match in Paraguay, with youth players Ever Valencia and Rivaldo Correa as newcomers, as well as the inclusion of experienced fullback Julian Anchico, after recovering from a viral illness that prevented him from playing in the Paisa derby.
