Alianza Lima falls to Palmeiras
Things aren't going as expected for Alianza Lima. They lost to Palmeiras in Brazil (2-0) in the Copa Libertadores, and it's not just the fans who are dissatisfied with the result. This is what the "íntimos" leader, Héctor Ordoñez, made clear, as they criticized the performance of the reinforcements, just 2 days before the match against Sporting Cristal.
"It's evident that Alianza made important player changes, players with good performance like Aguiar and Pacheco left. I agreed with the departure of all of them, but sometimes the new additions don't perform as expected and that's what's happening with Alianza," said the leader in an interview with Radio Ovación.

In that sense, Ordoñez wouldn't be satisfied with what Tomás Costa, Janio Posito, Mario Velarde, and Maximiliano Lemos have shown so far. With only five matches left in the competition, the chances of Alianza winning the championship are becoming more distant, although nothing is certain yet. That's why the match against Sporting Cristal will be key.
On the other hand, the leader, who also serves as vice president of the Association, also referred to the level shown by the clubs in international tournaments. Ordoñez felt outraged and believes that there is a lot of work to be done.
"If we study the last few years, we will realize that Peruvian clubs are the worst in international competition. We're doing things wrong, we're not acting for the benefit of the development of Peruvian football," he concluded.
