The coach Alfredo Arias is clear about Emelec's problem, after suffering two consecutive losses in the national championship; but the Uruguayan does not promise to win, but offers to get out of this bad moment.
"Emelec has the obligation to win. What I can't do, and nobody can, is to promise that we are going to win or that we will never lose. What one can promise is the attitude of wanting to win everything," said Arias, in view of today's match against Técnico Universitario.
In the last two games, the blues have lost (2-0 against Universidad Católica and 0-1 against Liga de Quito), results that have relegated them to fourth place with 12 points.

But for Arias, "the analysis (of the losses) must be apart from the result." That's why he sums up the decline in two aspects: "The lack of effectiveness in the opposing goal and the vulnerability we had in our defensive area. I believe that in the collective game, Emelec even outperformed the opponents."
And he recalled the defeat against the whites: "With Liga, we played 80 minutes in the opposing field and created scoring opportunities, we even had a penalty that we couldn't convert, and the opponent, in the first attack they had, scored against us."
"It's been a long time since we lost two consecutive games, a long time... But we are going to get out of this moment. How? by playing and training every day, giving our best, and correcting the mistakes we made in the games," he added.
But Arias adds another complication: the injuries of players who play in the same position (midfield).
He detailed: "Oswaldo Lastra got injured training on a synthetic field, perhaps due to stress from the hard surface; Pedro Quiñónez has a knee sprain from a strong tackle from behind against Católica; Nelson Soliz, playing in the Capwell, suffers a knee ligament injury after a contact; Hólger Matamoros (already recovered) had an overload due to pubalgia."
Regarding Jefferson Montero, he explained: "It's an injury that he has repeated in his history. It's not that he acquired it in Emelec and when he wants to give it his all, it gets worse." Most of those mentioned are out for today.
