Special Request: The Peruvian National Team Begins Its Preparations for the World Cup 2018
The Peruvian national team has already started its preparations for the two upcoming friendlies against Croatia and Iceland, as part of their preparation for the World Cup 2018 in Russia. However, Christian Cueva may not arrive on the expected day to join the team's training.
According to Globoesporte, the Sao Paulo coach has made a special request to the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF) to allow 'Aladino' to stay one more day with the club and play the match against Sao Caetano on Tuesday, March 20, for the quarterfinals of the Paulistao.
Peru vs. Croatia: How Many Players Can Ricardo Gareca Use in the Friendly?
The idea of the Peruvian national team coach is to have the majority of his players in Miami on Monday for the match against Croatia. However, Gareca wants to use Cueva in the second leg of the quarterfinals of the Torneo Paulista.
The Brazilian club's officials understand that this request could easily be denied by Ricardo Gareca and the FPF, but they still plan to make the official request in the coming hours.
Cueva is one of the players who has thrived under Gareca's guidance and it is crucial that he joins the national team as soon as possible. If permission is granted by the FPF, 'Aladino' will join the team's training on Wednesday, March 21. If not, he will join them on Monday.
