When Alexi Gomez signed for Atlas at the beginning of the year, his goal was to establish himself in the Liga MX to be considered for the Peruvian National Team. Only two months have passed and the 'Hiena' is more out than in of the 'Zorros' after an act of indiscipline.
Just a few hours before an official match in which he had been called up, the former player of Universitario de Deportes was caught playing a pickup game, as the Mexicans would call it, and understandably, upon learning of the incident, his coach had no choice but to separate him from the team.
"I made the decision quickly because I had already talked to him - referring to Alexi Gomez - and with others as well. Furthermore, I didn't have time to talk to the executives but I made the decision myself, and the directors will know what to do," said Ruben Omar Romano after Atlas' victory over Puebla.
"My stance is that a player who is not committed to the institution, to his teammates, and to the people who suffer on the field in every game, does not enter the team. The decision will be made by the board, for now we have to talk about the match and the victory over Puebla," added Alexi Gomez's current coach at Atlas.
