Mat Piscatella, a data analyst working at NPD Group, commented in a sales report of the PlayStation 4 that its successor, the much talked about PlayStation 5, will hit the market starting in 2020.
The analyst states that this year, the PS4 could surpass 100 million copies sold by the end of 2019, with its best year being 2018. After that, sales would decrease due to the yearly depreciation that occurs with technology.
In this way, in 2019 Sony would be preparing to take the big leap to the next version, the PS5, as they see their "next-generation" console falling behind over time and becoming obsolete compared to the technology of that year.

However, Piscatella adds that the PlayStation 5 should not be launched before 2020, as the PS4 still has a long way to go and remains one of the most popular consoles in the world. "I am just as interested as anyone else," he commented to Gamingbolt during the interview for this prediction.
