Everything went from bad to worse. When the match between Universitario de Deportes and Alianza Lima was 2-1 in favor of the blanquiazul team and Pedro Troglio's team had the possibility of equalizing the score, an error by Adán Balbín ruined everything.
After a long pass sent by Francisco Duclós into the opposing area, Balbín went for the ball along with Janio Posito, who was several meters behind him. Trusting and/or expecting a move from Raúl Fernández, the Merengue midfielder went to block Posito but what happened next he could not have imagined.
Posito, using his strength, overpowered Balbín and, realizing that he had space to score, shot and sent the ball into the net defended by Raúl Fernández. This sealed the match in favor of Alianza with a score of 3-1.
With this result, the blanquiazul team is in third place in Group A of the Torneo de Verano with seven points. Their next match will be on Thursday, March 1st at the Estadio Nacional, when they host Boca Juniors.
