Christian Cueva had a bittersweet game in the 2-1 defeat against Ituano, in the 7th round of the Paulista Championship. The Peruvian scored for Sao Paulo but in the last play of the match, he missed a penalty that could have given his team the draw.

After the match, Christian Cueva did not shy away from the journalists and declared. The midfielder of the Peruvian national team took responsibility for the defeat of Sao Paulo as he missed the shot from the twelve yards.

However, the coach of Sao Paulo, Dorival Junior, did not hesitate to praise Cueva and absolve him of blame for the missed penalty in the last action of the match.

"The responsibility is the coach's. In victories, the players celebrate it, in defeats the coach assumes it," said the coach.

And he added: "He was the protagonist of the match. Only those who take the shot miss a penalty. The goalkeeper was very fortunate. It was the last shot of the match. I was satisfied. That's the Cueva we all want."
