Cristian Benavente is one of the very few Peruvians who are currently performing well in their club, to be considered by Ricardo Gareca for the Peruvian National Team. Evidently, the 'Chaval' wants to return to play in the 2018 World Cup in Russia, and he is making merits to achieve it. At least, at La Videna they closely observe him.
"We know him personally. He was present in the last matches of the Qualifiers. He has done well in this league. He has found maturity in his football and personal life. He is still under observation. We have a program where we watch all the matches. He has found his position. He plays on the wing, behind the striker. As Peruvians, we are happy. He has a lot of professionalism," said Nolberto Solano on Radio Capital.
In that sense, the assistant coach of Ricardo Gareca congratulated Benavente for making the decision to leave the lower divisions of Real Madrid to find his path in Sporting Charleroi, a club in which he is one of the top scorers and a key player.
"Sometimes, you get too used to a club because they give you everything [Real Madrid]. And then it's hard to leave. So, he made the decision to leave. Now he is doing very well," added 'Ñol'.
On the other hand, Solano revealed that he will travel to Europe in the coming days to talk with the Peruvians. Benavente will be one of them. Will he return to the National Team?
