A Venezuelan flavor stands out in the practices of the lower divisions of Sport Huancayo. It comes from Virgilio Gómez and his wife Yosmerys Benavides, two football coaches from the llanero country who arrived in the 'Incontrastable City' to make history.
They got married ten years ago. And two months ago they came to Peru to take charge of the youth teams of 'Rojo Matador'. In addition, Gomez will coach the reserve team, which will compete in the Under 20 Libertadores Cup from February 12th. And Benavides will be in charge of the women's team 'huanca'.

"The reception has been spectacular. Everything we dreamed of in football, we have had here. They tell me: 'You are the new coach, welcome'. And that is a prize," said Yosmerys, who played football from the age of 15 and was even selected for her country.

Meant for each other
It was at that moment in her life that she met Virgilio, who came as the coach of her team, Anzoátegui de Puerto La Cruz (Venezuela). Yosmerys was injured and considering retirement, but her future husband asked her to continue because he needed her. That's how, with chemistry and details, love was born and bore fruit: two daughters, one four years old and the other sixteen.

"The (Venezuelan) people are struggling economically. We had never experienced something like this before. Our families have day-to-day problems and in some way, we help them from here," said the coach.
Depor sees them in practice, they strive and convince their boys. They came to write another story together. And they are achieving it.
