As recalled, Bengoechea called Velarde up to the Peruvian national team. With the Uruguayan coach, the footballer, who played for Cimarrones de Sonora in Mexico in 2016, played eight friendly matches.
Hours before Alianza made the signing official, Mario Velarde shared a message on his Instagram account related to the team. "My God, your timing is perfect... Go Alianza, the team of my heart," wrote the midfielder.

With Velarde, Alianza Lima now has three signings, all from Peru. José Guidino and Janio Posito are the other reinforcements. Meanwhile, Uruguayan Tomás Costa, who arrived in the capital today, would be the next one.
