The arrival of Maximiliano Núñez to Alianza Lima was considered a done deal, however, the Argentine forward who plays for Millonarios in Colombia and previously had a spell at Sporting Cristal has not yet confirmed his arrival. "There are many things being said about my arrival at Alianza but my agent has not contacted me. Also, nobody has called me directly but I always have my phone open. If there is a firm interest from Alianza Lima, they will have to contact my agent or me," he said.
If he arrives, Maximiliano Núñez will not be the first Argentine forward to join Alianza Lima. The club does not have the best memories of attackers from that part of South America. The last ones were Nicolás Tagliani (2003), who scored very few goals, one of them against Universitario de Deportes. He would end up leaving the team midway through that season due to poor performance. Two years later, Rodrigo Astudillo would arrive in La Victoria with the reputation of a goalscorer, but only scored one goal.
Claudio Velázquez (2009-2010) was another Argentine forward who was at Alianza Lima in recent years. The 'Karioka' joined the team after being the top scorer for José Gálvez in 2008. Adding up the two seasons, the forward scored 15 goals, very low numbers that, combined with his lack of teamwork, made him leave the team. Hernan Peirone was Velázquez's replacement. The remedy turned out worse than the disease. The 'Latigo' couldn't score in 15 matches, and when he finally did in a game against Sport Boys in Callao, the tournament went on hiatus after the end of the first round.
The last Argentine forward at Alianza Lima was Germán Pacheco, who managed to score 8 goals, many of them important on the road to the title, however, his performance average throughout the year was not the best, considering he played many games as a starter and did not stand out.
