With two signings announced this Wednesday, Liga de Quito strengthens its defense
Andersson Ordóñez, who returns from Germany, and Franklin Guerra, coming from El Nacional, will wear white in 2018.
The two new Albo players were presented at the Rodrigo Paz stadium. The white leadership highlighted the presence of these two values as "a bet on a change in the squad. We do not want to have a team surrendering on the field as happened on Sunday (in the 3-3 draw with Técnico Universitario for the South American Cup play-offs) and for that we must do what is necessary to put together the squad," said Esteban Paz, president of the club's executive committee.
Ordóñez returns from Eintracht in Germany and arrives with a one-season contract, with the option to extend for four more years. Guerra, meanwhile, joins the university team for three years.
These are Liga's first signings for the upcoming season, "putting together a squad according to the requirements of the coach Pablo Repetto," Paz said.
The counterpart in Liga's lineup are the players whose contracts end with the team, such as the cases of Édison Carcelén, Jonathan González, Henry Quiñónez, Luis Cangá, and Jonathan Betancourt. With the latter, the board expects an agreement to extend his loan, just like with Aníbal Chalá, for whom negotiations are taking place with MLS (Major League Soccer in the United States and Canada).
In the case of striker Hernán Barcos, the situation is different, Paz said. "Before traveling to Argentina, we reached a verbal agreement for his renewal; however, until we have the contract signed, we cannot guarantee anything," said the executive, referring to new clubs that would be interested in the services of the Pirate.
