Alianza Lima becomes the new leader of the Clausura Tournament

Alianza Lima defeated Deportivo Municipal 1-0 this Sunday and became the new leader of the Clausura Tournament with two matches remaining.

The team managed by Uruguayan Pablo Bengoechea, the current champion of the Apertura, secured the victory thanks to a goal from Rinaldo Cruzado at the 70th minute, which allowed them to accumulate 28 points in the standings.

Real Garcilaso dropped to third position after the surprising home defeat against Sport Huancayo by 0-1, falling to second place.

Melgar de Arequipa is second, just one point behind Alianza Lima, after defeating Juan Aurich de Chiclayo 4-3 on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Universitario missed the opportunity to catch up with Alianza Lima at the top of the standings by drawing 3-3 in their visit to Ayacucho FC.
