In Thursday's holiday classic at the Maracaná, Flamengo, coached by Colombian Reinaldo Rueda, and Fluminense drew 1-1 in a match where the players, apparently affected by the high temperatures, made exaggerated mistakes.
Fluminense opened the scoring with an own goal by Pará and Flamengo equalized with Réver in a play where the opposing defenders made serious mistakes.
The result leaves both teams in intermediate positions in the standings, far from those threatened with relegation but not close to the places that grant a spot in the Libertadores.
The traditional Fla-Flu classic will be repeated twice in the coming weeks as both clubs will face off in the quarterfinals of the Copa Sudamericana.
