The Peruvian clubs Alianza Lima and Sporting Cristal star in the new trailer for the video game Pro Evolution Soccer 2018, better known as PES 2018, which was released to stores on Tuesday.
Both teams appear fully licensed in the Konami game, with their squads and uniforms completely updated. In the video, players from both clubs can be seen performing impressive moves and scoring amazing goals.
This isn't the first time Peruvian clubs have appeared officially in a PES, as local teams that qualified for the Copa Libertadores or Copa Sudamericana previously appeared, for which Konami had the rights. However, it is the first time that Konami directly licenses Peruvian clubs.
Diego Rosselló, Marketing Manager at S2GO - distributor and strategic ally of Konami in Peru - highlighted that the release of PES 2018 is one of the most anticipated of the year in the country, with the largest fan base and one of the most important communities worldwide.
"With more than 40,000 players, PES has historically been the best selling game in the country, which has caught the attention of its creators and led them to include two important teams from the local league in its new version, such as Alianza Lima and Sporting Cristal," said the executive.
In an interview with the blog Más Consolas, Robbye Ron, Community Manager for Pro Evolution Soccer in Latin America, explained that the choice of Alianza Lima and Sporting Cristal was based on voting conducted by Konami through its official channels, but due to the acceptance that this inclusion has had, they are open to licensing more clubs and even the entire Peruvian league.
