During the match between AZ Alkmaar and PSV Eindhoven for the opening day of the Eredivisie in the Netherlands, this footballer suffered a terrible knee injury that will probably require a long recovery. Video on YouTube.
It was only the 5th minute of the match when Calvin Stengs went to fight for the ball, but he was not lucky and his knee took the worst part. He could not avoid showing signs of pain and medical attention was immediately requested.
The player was taken out on a stretcher and the Dutch press reports that there is a fracture in the area of his right knee, although AZ Alkmaar has not yet made an official statement.
In the end, PSV Eindhoven won the match with a score of 3-2. The match was played on the home ground of former team of the Peruvian Jefferson Farfán on the first date of the Eredivisie.
