UTC Cajamarca suffered more than expected to defeat Sport Rosario 2-1 at home and thus stay very close to Alianza Lima and Sport Huancayo.
The 'Northern Hawk' tried to impose his rhythm from the beginning and although he generated more than one opportunity to score, he was not able to break the deadlock in the first half. Colombian Donald Millán had the clearest chance, but he missed the finish when he had the entire goal at his disposal.
In the second half, UTC continued with their offensive intentions, but it was Sport Rosario who managed to open the scoring through an own goal by Segura, who introduced the ball into his own net after a low cross.
Things seemed to get uphill for the home team, but a penalty with an expulsion included from Luis Galliquio allowed them to level the score after Donald Millán's correct execution.
With one man advantage, UTC pushed forward in search of the lead and achieved it with a strong shot from midfielder Juan Pablo Vergara.
With this result, the team from Cajamarca accumulated 19 points and positioned themselves just one point behind Sport Huancayo and Alianza Lima, although the latter still have to play on Sunday against Alianza Atlético.
